I have notice that you can purchase ex Military Vehicles in the US and UK for very reasonable price....... defender 90 softtop for approx $15,000 with low Kms.

Try the site below to give you an idea what is available

www.witham-sv.com

Does anyone know whether it is possible to purchase ex Aus Military Vehicles and if so where from. I have not been able to find anywhere to date.

That would be the golden webpage if you could find one for aus.

I'm involved with the Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers that is australian based (carzee is actually the webmaster).

We have a couple of members that have perenties (the current Aus landrover), but have a look at the pic below for what recent perenties lookl like from auction.

The vehicle is now a showpiece.

To answer your question, No. Ex military vehicles are not readily available like in the UK. Although in theory the army is releasing some soon, nobody is expecting it to happen for a while.

if you want some more information visit REMRL at http://www.remlr.150m.com

on the basis that the cost of importing is approx $5000. still would be worth considering.....near new 90 with less than 10K's on the clock or a 127 V8 for approx the same money. Still got to be a good deal.....thinking of importing a few if could find a market.....but sure that would not be a problem.

If you have the cash to import a batch, you won't have any difficulty in selling them, trick is gerring all of the details and roadworthyness sorted out.

Keep a 90 for me 8)

Come to think of it, if you had a few in near service condition, and a few of the different models, you might have quite a market at REMLR.

I believe the greatest hassel you would have is compliance within Australia. In short (not a pun for 90's) getting them on the road here would be difficult.

That said have you been to the Northern American Sites. They have real trouble importing anything younger than 15yrs.

Once you own Aussie Ex-Army you don't ever think about buying anything else style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
Majority of British military landrovers are just stock standard 110's and 90's painted green. In my opinion... nothing special. I've read all the mags and seen all the photos, but nothing catches my eye more than an Australian Ex-Army Landrover!
Only the latest issue of the Australian Army is a 110 modified... but everything else before that is unique, and thats what I love about them... knowing that each vehicle has its own military history and a specific function within the Australian Armed forces before their decommision.
You could call it a psychological disorder, where I have never thought about ever owning a civilian landrover.... I just have a passion for Ex-Army!

Its more like an addiction... which the fire can never have enough fuel... or enough landrovers as a fact! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif
