Had trouble starting my disco in town today. Called out a mate who is more mechanically minded than me. He checked the distributor, the battery etc. Eventually got it going by tapping the fuel tank with a rubber mallot.....the pump had stopped.;......
Went along and got a new fuel pump installed, and she is running very sweet now......but will remember the technique if i ever get caught out in the bush....

I used to use the "gentle pursuader" AKA "Russian screw driver" to start the Moke when the starter jammed. (Love British technology).

Have gone a similar path with my 96 Disco V8. Was told the intank fuel pump & setup of commodores is very similar to Disco's. Infact the fuel pumps can be interchanged I've been told.

The last few months I had my Rangie I kept the crank handle behind the front seats so I could reach around and tap the floor under the rear seat to kick the fuel pump into gear again. Also came in handy for starting as the ignition switch was very dicky.
It didn't miss a beat though when I was trading it, started first time every time. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
