I have searched the Forum, but I am after an answer to a specific situation.
I am gradually learning about the Defender. Haven't even got it yet, but it should be this week.
Dealer is fitting a few items, including LR Crashbar LR008247, which I'm led to believe, enables the original "lashdown points" to remain in place?..Is this correct,..can they remain?....Even if they can, I've read that they would not be strong enough for a frontal tow of the vehicle....they would bend etc...Is this correct?
I've done some research & located Jate Rings ZXC9435, a LR item which will apparently fit with the crashbar that is being fitted. Can anyone specifically say that these Jate rings will fit with the LR008247 crashbar?
Also, are they strong enough to enable the vehicle to be towed with them? We don't envisage any severe off road stuff, so they would probably only be used for towing on a relatively hard surface, in the event of a breakdown etc?
Has anyone fitted Jate rings with this crashbar, if not, still using this crashbar, but no bull bar, what sort of recovery point have you fitted?
Thanks, Pickles.

Those are tie down points not towing points and it looks that crash thingy is too narrow for the jate rings to fit unless you had the plate modified.

Here's a pic of my jate rings.

I found this, might answer your question...

Post and picture down the bottom of the page by "inigo".

Also remember jate rings come in two different widths for defenders.

I wanted a bash plate with recovery points built in too, I looked at the options available and decided on purchasing one from APT fabrications.
Very happy with it, actually bought another one for my 90 Bush basher as well.
Actually if I can find it, I have somewhere a picture of an SVX 110 with a Land Rover bash plate and an LE 90 with a APT bash plate. The SVX has different recovery points on the front of the chassis rails of a design that I haven't seen before.

Close up photo of the SVX 110 recovery point.
If anyone knows who or what company makes these recovery points, I know a bloke that is interested in purchasing them.

Well, my Dealer acn obtain these Jate Rings ZXC9435, that will supposedly fit with the crash plate.
Does anyone know how they fit?....I've read that I need a bolt 130mm x 10mm,...so when the thing is screwed up, is there supposed to be any play, or is the jate ring supposed to be locked solid in the same position, or free to move?
You can probably read that I am NOT very mechanically orientated.
Cheers, Pickles.

I'm not sure what size bolt - I just went to my local fasteners shop and asked for 2 high tensile bolts for *these* and plonked them on the table.

There should be no play once you've done them up.
