looking at extending my brake lines due to a body lift, but want to know if it is possible to extend the steel lines and keep the stock rubber ones? ive been told it will be hard to get custom brake lines if needed when travelling but stock sizes are easy, thus extending the steel lines instead. any ideas?

Also looking in to this
I'm thinking I will go stainless steel flex hoses as they should last forever (almost) + they don't explend when you put your foot on the brake. About $15 more then newrubber flex, now only need to find the old lenght + 4" to get quote.

Take care. I am led to believe that in many cases the stainless steel hoses are not legal for road use (Qld anyway)

This was probably brought into force to stop dangerous fuel leakages from worn braided fuel line, but when manufacturers started making steel braided sleeves over rubber linings the legislation didn't catch up.

I hope I'm wrong. Anyone know about this ?

Check a company called Pacific Hoseflex in your state (QLD) the guy to talk to is Jeff Douglas When I last spoke to him he told me that they produced stainless steel braided teflon brake lines to required lengths and that they had them approved by your relevant authority. Unfortunately I havent got his phone no here it's on my quickdial at work.
