Pro Spacer?

Hi all, I am currently looking to increase the Track between the wheels without buying a new set of wide wheels, as I am keen to keep the current steel wheel's. I have done some reading and am down to the last option!!!! Installing some wheel spacers. These allow you to keep your current wheels but actually increase the track between front and rear wheels giving better stability offroad and better cornering at high speeds.
Has anyone here in Oz had any experience with fitting them? and what if any problems have you had?

Have seen them used but only for off road situation's.

Not sure if they are road leagle.

Another option that is road leagle is to have your steelies centre's cut out and moved.

Will do the same job and me %100 road worthy if done right.

Illegal in all states.

Can be used off road but much better to get the wheels.

Im pretty sure from BSLARS you are a fellow series pilot!!
Definately no to spacers,they load your wheel studs to the max.If you are happy with the Series rim width and want that look it is worth finding a "wheel builder" ,they can cut your centres out and re-weld into your exsisting rims,or if you want a wider series style rim weld your centre into a wider rim.
My brother has a 2A wagon,the previous owner has had the centres cut out and re-welded with a +1 inch offset per rim,they look really good plus helps heaps with stability.

Yes thats me, still have the old girl, she is now restored!!!!!!!!!!!
I am currently tinkering with the 300tdi Disco, I would like to widen the wheel track on her!!!!

I saw a set of disco rims on a 130,the guy had had the centres cut out ,reversed and re-welded,they looked awesome.

The Toy is paitently waiting to shift into the new shed,hopefully it wont be too long before I get into doing a bit,first job is to get all the cr## out of the back of it I threw in there whilst shifting,then take the body off,then cut 2 inches out of my 4 inch bodylift to satisfy the transport people.
If I had my time again I would have built a hybrid using a rangie with a decent body shape on it (Series Of Course!!!) at least you have the V8/Discs/powersteer etc already engineered for you instead of trying to be an engineer and inventing it for yourself!!
