I purchased a Rovercraft Bull Bar and Front Runner Steering guard with the impression buy the seller that it will fit straight onto the bar.
So when it arrived I'm not suprised to find out that it doesn't fit without some form of modification as far as I can see.

Has anyone purchased these two accessories and fitted them, and if so how
did you do it?

Quality control on the bar is a bit disapointing , as it doesn't sit tight and moves up and down a little unless I tighten the bolts right up and bend the steel, I had to tap out all the holes because the thread from the bolts wouldnt take and I had to buy longer bolts so I could get enough thread to take and be safe. The steering guard is going to need some brackets or something made up to work with the Rover Craft Bar.

Cheers

Hope you get it sorted mate! I've been down the road of mixing and matching brands over the years and it happens more often than you think that they won't line up with each other.

Assuming you bought the aluminium/ steel one to suit the look of the bar, is the issue on the mounting points or the aluminium bash plate? Could you get away with using one of the other sets of counter sunk holes in the guard?

I owned the same guard, but after bending it a couple times and having to remove the aluminium bit to beat it straight, I went back to the Mantec guard as on the old Camel Trophy vehicles. Quite plain looking, but strong as and it mounts on the outside of the chassis rails and not inside as the Front Runner does.

The guard I got was the steel one. Now I kind of wished I got the aluminium one because the steel one is pretty heavy, I am beggining to feel the weight in the front end.

I haven't sorted out fitting of the plate yet as I'm a bit tight for time this time of year and I was hoping it would be a straight install. None of the the current holes line up with any on the plate so I'll have to fit an adaptor bar to line up with the bolts the hold my winch down and then to the holes in the plate. First world problems but frustrating nobody tells you anything despite me asking specifically 'does it bolt straight on'.

A note on Bull Bars, A Bars, and Steering guard compatibility.

None of the UK sourced Steering guards are designed for fitting with ARB/TJM/LR Bullbars.

You might also encounter fitting issues with other type of A Bars, ie Rovacraft as mentioned. You get what you pay for Bar wise some are ok, others more expensive but higher quality, and the finnish excellent.

We have to alter the Terrafirma ones to fit the ARB Bars. I think its just one of those little things you will have to do its just the way it is.

If you cant be bothered to alter things, buy a matching Bar and Guard package, we have do the Shadow ones, and everything fits perfect.

Juddy.

I did ask before purchasing the plate if it fitted straight onto the Rover craft bar, and the response was that it would. As if that wasn't enough, the bolt holes on the bar were too small so I had to tap them out etc, etc.

I know what you mean that it's just the way it is, but I try to avoid those situations where possible because I dont have the time to mess around nor the resources.

In hindsight, yes your packages probably would have been a better choice.

Cheers.
