Gidget,

If that was my defender a temp like that wouldn't cause me any concern (unless there was some other indicator that it might be wrong).

Its about where my temp gauge sits.

Does the gauge move normally? ie does it go back to the left end when cold and evenly move to this position when driving, or does it suddenly jump etc. If anything other than a progressive movement I would look at a new sender first.

Unless of course as I said there are other indicators that something is not quite right.

It does go up gradually & it normally sits on half way after it warms up, & doesn't really move after that ,but on sunday it creeped up to there so i turned the a/c off & backed off it abit & it levelled out there & didn't return to half way untill we where stationary for 10 mins???? so wasn't sure.

Hi Gidget

That's about where my temp guage sits all the time. On initial startup it actually goes a little higher then comes back to that point and will sit there all day long in anything less than 40 deg weather. I thought that my thermostat might be a bit dicky, especially with the way it goes a bit higher to begin with and then settles back to just over half way, but after putting a new thermostat in it's exactly the same. I'm now assuming that it's normal, just one of those Landrover idiosyncrasies!

 Maybe it reads high when normal, so there's somewhere for it to go in those god-forsaken countries where it snows all the time.....
