Hi guys after a bit of help. I have a 2008 puma defender and the check engine light has come on. It used to come on intermittently but shutting down and restarting seemed to clear it. Now it has been on for a few days. It doesn't seem to effect performance but I would like to rectify it. I have searched the forum but couldn't seem to find an answer. Any help would be appreciated as its getting anoying. Many thanks.
Regards.
Eck

Hi Eck, when this happened to me it turned out to be a dirty MAF sensor. It might not be this for you though. But at least it's an easy one to rectify - just unplug the cable connector off the MAF, take out the 2 screws, carefully remove the MAF sensor and spray it liberally with CRC MAF sensor cleaner. DO NOT touch the sensor with anything to aid cleaning, just flood it with cleaner and let it air dry. You will be amazed at how dirty the 'wash off' will look - the sensor may look clean but still use the spray, there is a lot of fine 'dirt' on it.

You may have to use a Scanguage or Nanocom to re-set the error code that put on the engine light - with mine I used a Scangauge as I could not get my Nanocom to re-set it for some reason. Good luck!! p.s. I picked up a new MAF sensor to have as a spare.

Cheers, Marty

Without finding out the codes that have been logged you are going to struggle to solve this. But has anything changed recently, for example does it still make the three buzzes when you switch it off or has this now gone silent (EGR Valve).

Hi bilbo.
Haven't checked that as yet. Cleaned the MAF sensor with maf cleaner but still the same. Will check for the buzzes though. Am getting the codes read next Wednesday as that is the earliest I can get it done.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

hi, my 2012 Puma had an engine light come on, it started to run a little rough then stoped with a rather disturbing noise, fault found ( stuffed injector) 5 weeks later after injector tester thought it was contaminated fuel turns out that it is a faulty injector (No2) fixed that ran for a day now another one has died, lucky for me that the 2nd one went while dealer testing. fingers crossed I get it back soon.

Open the bonnet.
Is there an engine?
Yep?
Done.
