werrr, that is a little fugly.

Ditch the bumper for a more rounded ARB or TJM, take off that scoop and those grills around the door/window, reduce the lighting attachments (no real need) and get rid of the twin stack exhaust for a side exit. change out the tyres for a more friendy tread pattern (KM2s?) and use the stock arches along with some 7" LED headlights.

Internal roll cage?

that would be nice. Like the matt black.

Only the Russians could make this thing.

Agree scoop and lights need to go, need the fold down window cages in remote places or your stuff and/or vehicle is gone, (not to mention having a heavy object thrown through your window) tyres can change and no way an ARB or TJM bullbar is going on my vechicle haha every 110 in Australia looks the same because of this square truck suits square shape IMHO, lake pipes instead of stacks would be nice but don't mind stacks, yep all the best land rovers seem to come from Russia and Iceland and a few in South Africa they actually do lots of different things with them instead of all being the same... I still cant find were these places source there rims even though this one has ****ty rims, I haven't seen one land rover with nice wheels in Australia and cant find anything online overseas for sale unless they all do hub conversions, not sure...

The reason we dont have the good rigs here that you see in Russia and ZAF etc is due to our restrictive ADR and modification laws.

everyone to their own. Bit chunky and Dodge Rammy for me. Looks quite aggressive.

Maybe try the non american approach and go in peace. Perhaps the people aren't that bad.

Could do without the smoke stacks in the back.

Traveling in something like that OS, no one would bother you, as they'd think you were part of the riot squad.

I like the bullar, the scoop lights and tyres (yeah I I know they're impractical for daily use) but I'm not into the matt black; that'd be nice and warm up north of Adelaide eh RC110? And I think if you need the cages for the windows you'll also need one for the windscreen. :)

Can anybody tell me what the steel cables are going from the bullbar to the roof rack? To push aside bushes/branches or something?

Thats correct. Len Beadell had them on his Series One back when he did the Gunbarrel and Connie Sue etc.
Also the Camel Trophy Landies used them too.

I was wondering what the eye bolts on the brackets on the bonnet were for.

They are contested in the UK. I personally don't think they are necessary.

Don't need window guards, even in remote areas. Not once have I felt insecure in remote areas.

As mentioned above, its going to attract more attention as it is than a stock white 110 so maybe all the protection IS needed :D

Sirocco have you been to PNG, SA, South America ect... you need window cages and it needs the windscreen cage (even though in this case i think the window guards are for scrub ect), hell even in Willcannia and community's like that id prefer window cages, plus they are removable so no big deal...

I admit i'm pretty new to land rovers but have always owned pretty tuff, heavily modified rigs like patrols, cruisers ect and driven with cruisers modified to a similar level to this in Australia and no cop has ever bothered me in a 4x4, except you have to change tyres in the city, because city cops don't like them sitting out the side and yes your insurance would be void but dont think it would be a massive issue just don't run someone over...

Benz

hardly ever see overlanding rigs with cages as extreme as that.

I would be more inclined to try to blend in more the stand out like dogs balls... but each to their own

your valuables can be locked away without making your car into a giant cage.

If some one wants it bad enough they will have it after all...

as for what the rig looks like.
I think it has stepped over the line from cool to over the top.

If you look like you want trouble you will probably get it!

And that certainly looks like it is squaring up for. Fight.

If you rolled into an African village in that people would think an invasion was starting, if I was there I would think there was an invasion starting and hop in to my nice looking yet capable 110 and get out! Mine is relatively standard but I still sometimes wonder that it might look a little intimidating.

Ex military landies are considered a bit of a no go for trans Africa travel as they give the wrong idea.

Maybe it would be a bit better in baby blue or a subtle pink.

Looks like a b-grade movie prop to me. I reckon people would point and laugh at you.

Some good parts on it, like b-bar and sills. If you added some of the ideas to a defender and got the wheels right it might look good without being stupid.

regardless of look, I'm not so sure that's a good tourer anyway. How many in the car? You may be better building a 110 wagon, or a 130. The 110 cab-ute, if you leave the spare where LR put it, virtually chews up 1/3 of the back. If you move it then you still don't have much room if you put a lid on the tub.
Even if there is only two in the car and put a fridge in the back seat area; that leaves you sleeping in a tent. I would think if your that worried about getting ambushed driving, then sleeping in a tent is definitely not on the cards. I guess if your paying to sleep at impounded dwellings then that's a bit different.

A 110 wagon, with 2 people, gives access via back doors, and possible sleeping in the back. And nice and safe with the IRA mesh window guards.

I do like the little sun visor, do you know how that was done.

Guess most overland trips don't go to png.

Got thinking, maybe I was too hard on this rig and at the end of the day maybe it's just a bit of fun.
It is a little boring to be practical all the time

not quite true, russian laws are far more restrictive than australia.
you can not even put bling valve caps on!!!!!

how ever if you have that much money for a rig like that, then you or your Daddy must have a bit of weight around town so no cop is going to stick his neck out and risk trying to stop you.

simple realy

Have to disagree most cages are for aggressive local transport drivers, the vast majority of expat drivers have no cages, except for thee ****** FIFO mining *******, me I drive with the window down and give the nod & smile. But then I've only been here since 61, so prob doing it all wrong.

Firearms forget it, grow some balls instead.

There is a bloke in Sydney with a 90 ute that looks a lot like this 110, doesn't have the window cages or the roof racks though, otherwise it's pretty similar.
The other traffic on the roads seems to give the vehicle a lot of clearance.....

You guys are going to the wrong parts of PNG.
I'm sitting on my veranda checking out a perfect Bismark Sea, fishing at 0730 with a few SP, lunch on an island about 20 km away. Life is good.

I find lot's more Zombies in Canberra,
