Just bought a rusty S3 wagon with this engine in it. Mainly wanted it for the adapter.Picking it up Wednesday.
Can anyone tell me if this engine can be turbo,d.?
There are references to a turbo,d one in the UK and I believe DasLandroverMan had one.
I think they are indirect injection but Wikipedia says the early one with the tin rocker cover is indirect and the later with alloy cover (as this one is) is direct injection but I have my doubts untill I pull the head.

Hey Keith, I've just picked up a S3 wagon with a 4-165 in it. The engine is seized and is missing injectors, but if I can get my hands on a set of injectors I'll be keen to rebuild. If you know of anywhere I could get injectors please let me know. Cheers mate
