Gday All,
I recently replaced my Cam, lifters and springs in my Ford 289 V8. Before I installed the lifters I soaked them in a ice cream container and used a pushrod to prime the lifter ( im sure I did prime them BUT ) .
Put it all back together and fired it up , run the cam in , BUT , by god they are noisey .
SO , how do I stop them from rattling away ?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers Ean

Hi Ean,
Did you take up the slack on the rockers by tightening them down onto the posts? Are your pushrods the ones that came from the engine? - IIRC there are different lengths.

Did you use any cam break-in lube?

I did it the way the manual said, but think I need to pre load the lifters/rockers which I never did. I used the original push rods , but they did measure up to spec, so was happy to re-use them.
The manual says there are different length push rods, you are correct.
