Hey

Cant seem to locate model on redbook. Being quoted by dealer on a tdv SE yet from LR site and redbook I can only see a sdv SE.

Had the base 3 litre engine which is why I started looking further.

Any ideas or feedback on the tdv SE vs base model? Is it actually just the base model...

What year is it you're looking at? If I recall correctly, LR only started using the SDV6 badge in the last year or two to differentiate between two spec levels of the 3.0 engine.

The 2010 3.0 D4 SE was badged TDV6 3.0 and is the full power version.

My 2010 3.0 SE didn't have any badges to that effect, apparently they had run out of them?

When I bought my D4 SE in December 2009, it was delivered to the dealer without any badges. Had to go back and get them fitted at a later date.
Not sure why?

Cheers, Craig

Hi

It's a new 2013, on boat at the moment.

Sounds like the SE bit might be a bit of a scam if its not got the larger engine in in . Definitely a tdv not sdv.

Have you been given a VIN number yet? If you have you can take a look at Topix (TOPIx - TOPIx (http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/i18n/index)) to take a look at the spec.

Yes I had the same thing with one dealer using the SE name a bit freely when describing a 3.0 155kw TDV6, which as far as I can see has never been in an SE model.
Fairly important detail! :-)

The TDV6, SDV6 SE & SDV6 HSE all have 3.0lt engines, the TDV6 is downrated to 155kw compared to 183kw for the SE & HSE. The TDV6 also has less options on it, is a 5 seater as standard with 7 as an option (rare to find one with 5 though) different tyres & rims etc.
Check the Landrover website for a few more differences. I bought the TDV6 as it was available with the extras on it I wanted at a pretty reasonable price.

basic, SE and HSE are a trim levels +/- optional extras. The basic doesn't have the LED signature headlamps while the SE and HSE do.

The TDV6 is the 155Kw 3.0 litre engine (not down rated, just the earlier rating - also there was a lower power 2.7 TDV6 in earlier models)
The SDV6 is the 183Kw 3.0 litre engine (the later uprated engine).

When they introduced the 3.0 SDV6 in MY12 they still had the 2.7 TDV6, when they ran out of 2.7 TDV6 it was replaced with the 3.0 TDV6 in the 155Kw spec as the lower power option.

Hi Diana, All 3.0 ltr engines prior to the discontinuation of the 2.7 ltr were 180kw and were badged as "3.0 TDV6". The 155kw 3.0 ltr engine is new in Australia to replace the 2.7 ltr TDV6.

D4/RRS 2010 - 2012
2.7 ltr (140kw/440nm) = "TDV6" - S specification (not RRS)
3.0 ltr (180kw/600nm) = "3.0 TDV6" SE & HSE specification

D4 MY13 onwards
3.0 ltr (155kw/520nm) = "TDV6" S specification
3.0 ltr (183kw/600nm) = "SDV6" SE & HSE specification

RRS MY13 onwards
3.0 ltr (190kw/600nm) = "TDV6"
3.0 ltr (215kw/600nm) = "SDV6"

Hi SBD4

I did not know this. My understaning of the D4 info you gave matches my understanding but I assumed that the Rangie Sport engines were the same tune as the D4 engines from 2013/14.

A mate of mine is looking at a new Rangie Sport Ive been telling him he needs to stretch out for the SE because he would not want the 155kw enging but the he would want the upgraded engine, but if youre telling me the cheapo Sport () has 190kw worth of grunt then that would do him, especially if it is over 300 kg light.

Sorry for thread hijack.

Once you register and login, there will be a big box in front of you, that says "VIN Selection:"

Put your VIN in there.

The table is not quite correct. As previously noted the MY2011 3.0 were badged SDV6, in Oz anyway.

The table is not quite correct. As previously noted the MY2011 3.0 were badged SDV6, in Oz anyway. Now just one more question. The Land Rover production year starts around September, so a vehicle made in October will have the specifications for the following calendar year, the Australian Compliance plate lists the actual manufacture month so our October 2011 D4 will have MY12 specs but be plated as MY11 on the compliance plate.

When we talk about MY11 D4 being SDV6 are we actually talking about MY12 spec vehicles with MY11 compliance plates in Australia?

At least this is what happened with my Phase II Range Rover classic. It was 10/84 build then registered and insured as MY84 but I always had to order Land Rover parts to suit a 1985 classic.

Graeme

The VIN will show the precise model year but Oct build will be well within the next calendar year model. My Oct 09 build is MY10 but first registered in 2009 so shown as a 2009 model. My 9/84 build RRC is also MY85.

They say never drive the 183kw if you only want to pay for a 155. Until you drive the 183, the 155 is brilliant, especially if like me you own a 300tdi Defender at the time.
