ARB Bull Bar Winch fitting Kit...what's in it?

Hi all,
Can some one please advise what makes up the ARB Bull Bar Winch fitting Kit, that is required to fit a winch to a ARB bull bar that is available for the MY 12 110.
ARB part number 3532070, they want $274 and $14 for the Packer Kit,
I assume the packer kit spaces the bull bar further out from the chassis rails???
Has any one any photos of the winch fitting kit?

Is the bullbar a "Deluxe Bull bar" ?

If so you don't need a kit. The winch (if standard bolt settings) will bolt straight onto the bar. i've just fitted my winch myself to a 2013 110. Plenty of room to bench press the winch into place without having to take the bar off too.

Not sure if the bulbar is a STD or Deluxe type, as I have just put a deposit down on a new 110 from a dealer in Victoria and asked that a winch compatible ARB bull bar be fitted.

Initially I thought I would need a fitting kit but ARB gladly informed me that the new bars dont need it. 5mm plate steel is where the winch sits on the bar.


Recently LR have had ARB fitting the deluxe bull bar for them here in WA. You would hope that the partnership was across Australia to ensure consistency.


If so, I would assume that you will probably end up with the deluxe bull bar. IN which case fitting a standard winch is easy (i'm not mechanically minded and I done it).

The bolt holes face forwards on the bullbar and you will need a second pair of hands just to help you get the bolts started when you are bench pressing the winch into position. After that, one person can complete the job with ease.

Depending on what winch, cable lengths and what route you chose for the cable etc you may require some extensions to your main winch wires. With the battery being situation under the passenger seat it is quite some distance to get the winch cable from the front bullbar to the battery.

I'm not sure what your plans are of having a dual battery system ????? But if you plan to set up a dual system I would reccommend a guy on here from TRAXIDE (Tim) who can supply you with info and hardware for battery management systems. i fitted a dual battery and purchased a USI 160 Defender Kit from him. Easy install, good info over the telephone and seems to work a treat.

However it does take some working out how to fit 2 batteries in the Defender battery box.

ARB only have one bar to fit the defender and it's the Deluxe, so your in luck :)

Double check to see if the dealer is selling you something that they can actually supply. When I was shopping for a bullbar about 3 weeks ago, ARB was out of stock Australia wide and their next 2 production runs were sold out, and 6 bars out of the third run (each run is only 15 bars). This came from head office in Melbourne. I was told I would have to wait till March or April iirc. So ended up going with a rovacraft winch bar.

The kit I purchased for the deluxe bar had extended winch cables to go to the under seat battery, the grill support panel which I did not need to use as I did not cut the grill, the solenoid mounting plates (a flat and angled plate from memory, a number plate mount, various nuts and bolts and two spacer plates which are intended to be mounted between the winch and the bar to add clearance. I did not use these either. If you do use them, then you might need to cut the grill. The spacer might bee needed depending on the make of the winch. I fitted a Warn 9.5XP. Don't cut the grill until you trial fit the winch and check for the clearance.


To fit, I just placed the winch on a box under the bar and used a ratchet strap to take the weight of the winch using the bar as the "pulley." I lifted it roughly into position then tied off the strap and then bolted the winch into position. This made it a one person job.


The extended cables meant that you are not joining cables. It might seem a little expensive but in the end it made life easy.

Fitted the ARB bar and Ironman winch to my '95 130 a few years ago. The supplied cables for the winch were designed for batteries mounted in an engine bay. A couple of metres of fat cable from an auto store will save you a world of problems.

As for fitting, I am a world champion mechanical clutz but I fitted the lot by myself one Saturday. Its not difficult. The hardest part was lifting the bar/winch combination to the bar but I found an armless chair (actually an Aldi under car creeper in seat mode) that was just the right height and it slipped on easily.

I have a delux ARB bar on my new MY13 defender and when trying to fit a Champion 9500 winch it will not fit without cutting away some of the panel below the grille as the control box extends too far backwards --any suggestions? My son's Ironman winch fits easily however.
