This afternoon i had problems with my td5. It was coughing and jerking once the rpm raised at first, and the check engine light came on. i pulled up let it sit for a short while then kicked her back over and gave it a few revs to try get the fuel flowing again. It happened again about a dozen times (not as bad) even at idle, only now the glow light started to flicker. i finally got her home and drained the bottom of the filter and there only seemed to be "clean" fuel flowing out. Ive only had it for a week and have just replaced the master on the clutch :(:censored:. This has me rather stumped, is it a fuel line problem or an electrical one?
please AULRO throw your advice at me im all ears!!

check your earths and pull the crank angle sensor then have a look see.
but Im going to have a guess at the fuel pump itself is on the way out or the driving relay for it is failing.

I found that when fuel pump relay in mine failed it drove fine accept:
- up hills;
- if you had parked nose up slope; or
- if you floored it
(I assume that when there is a lowish demand for fuel the engine have enough "suck" to pull it through the system).
If this sounds familiar then I would suggest that it might be either the relay or the pump itself check the relay (under the drivers seat) by listening for the click.
