Greetings all,
I have just been informed that the finance lease payment for a new MY13 Tamar Blue 110 has been paid to the dealer.....should I be extatically excited knowing that I will have a new 110 in the driveway by the end of the week:banana::banana::banana:...I have only waited a year or so for my existing novated lease to finish....
My relationship with Defenders goes back a few years...it all started when I joined the Army in 1990...

If you AREN'T excited then you don't bloody deserve it !

I wanted a 130 not a 110 and the novated lease companies wouldn't do it for me as its classified as commercial.... buggers,

I was pretty excited. And when I drove it out of the dealership and turned the radio on. 'The Final Countdown' by Europe came on. I was fist pumping out the window much to the concern of other drivers.

Now looking at it I should have bought a Toyota as us as landy owners seem to modify everything to make the defender like them...driving both landys and cruisers the cruisers are as a whole a better more well built unit...don't mind the old 4.2 patrols either...owning 3 defenders (1993 200tdi,2010 110,2013 130 and a county) and only putting 30k on the 130 since June I think to myself why did I get another 1 but for some reason I did most probably for the looks :D

Sometimes I feel a bit like chief. Then I look at the sheeple that drive Tojos and the weird smug self satisfied looks they give me in shop car parks and I know why I drive a Landie.
BUT, I must say our Prado gave us excellent service and did all we asked it to but was just a bit too soft and easily scratched for us so we went back to a Deafener.........3rd bloody Deafener and we've had an early 300 Tdi Disco as well.
Is there is no hope for us?

I bought my first landrover 24 years ago and have never bought anything but landrovers since, bloody oath you should be excited!! I was with all of mine and if I had somewhere to keep them I'd still have all four of them.

At least you know your not in denial Chief.

I do wish I bougnt a Ford RAnger and a Land Cruiser and a 130 at various stages, but the 110 just looks awesome and at the end of the day it does the job very well so I can live with my decision.

Learn to love what you have and not what you don't have I suppose.

I'm that damn excited about picking up my new (2nd hand) one it's not funny. Only one more sleep and 2100km to go! A new new one would probably kill me.

Funny u should say ranger as that's another 4wd I have been quite impressed with lately however the lack of the live front is the only reason why I do not own 1...they all have there downfalls really as per everything

Your tools will be excited too. They will get the rust worn off of them from use..:p On a serious note, a toymota is probably built to a more thorough standard but is also about as capable as a wounded commodore and has the characteristics of a take away container and also the future of one :).
Up with the Landy!!

Ive said this before about most modern designed cars is that I know personally I will get bored of them because they are so comfortable and refined that you feel like you are just driving another car that looks different. Even though they can near match the defender in some areas of 4 Wheel driving.

I love the ridculous bodyroll when cornering hard, the feedback through the chassis and tyres, and it's a blank canvas you can build on. I will never get bored of the Defender, it may wear me down eventually though :D.

The Landcruiser is so damn expensive for an entrty level vehicle and the Ford Ranger as you said. Both very nice capable cars.

Good sum up...that's pretty much how I feel...the defenders do have good breaks and the road feel/steering is better then most other 4wd's...

Personally I dislike IFS due to there being more moving parts that are vulnerable and weak and for the areas I drive in live fronts hold up better
