Gang,

Looking at this Auto 1997 Defender on eBay.

Just wondering if anyone has inspected it? Or if anyone has any specifics I should be looking out for when I check it out?

If you are really interested in it get somebody from here that lives in Melbourne with good Defender knowledge to inspect it for you :)

300TDI motors will happily do in excess of 400,ooklms if serviced regularly and not overheated,I would suggest if you get a 300TDI to fit an engine low water alarm ;)

Why not spend a little more & get a whole lot more & it's still an auto ( & closer to you).

black and no aircon... a bit of a challenge, I reckon.

I think it is a Personal Import (nothing wrong with that, I imported my defender when I came to Australia). However, I don't like the fact that the steering wheel blocks the view of the transfer lever. I bet you that, because of the conversion, it doesn't look neat there.

A 300 tdi is fine, as long as you are not in a big hurry/uphill/towing.

In my opinion, the price tag is ok as long as the car is in a showroom condition and with an endless service history.

Been looking at this one, too. Honestly, I just like the aesthetics of the black one. I owned an SVX up until a few months ago.

Still interested in the one in QLD though...
