Hey you other cool Perentie owners :)
I've had my new Land Rover Perentie (Cargo) from Grays for a couple of weeks now and thought I would put up what issues I've encountered and also put out for some advice from you folks.
I want to have seat belts fitted in the back of the vehicle so that I can put another six adventurers safely in the back.
Apparently to do this lawfully they have to be fitted and subsequently inspected by an authorised person and a Modification Plate fitted. I've now been to two garages (Dets given to me from QLD Transport) here up on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and all have said they will get back to me after making enquiries with the Transport people. To date none have, have any of you guys had belts installed and what has been your experience?
Today on my way down the motorway my ODO reached 100,000 ks and then the speed needle just fell and died. The ODO stopped ticking over and now its stuck on 100,000 ks. Does anyone know if this is normal when reaching 100,000 and it needs to be reset, or could a cable or something snapped? It is now also making a clicking sound from under the dial which makes me think its broken.
I've seen some of you asking about the idle speed and the vehicle rattling. When I took mine to my mechanic to have a Road Worthy done I put this to him. He said that the straight 3.9L Isuzu engine is basically a truck engine and will run low before heating up to its proper idling speed. I did ask him if it needed a bit of a tune up and he said no. I must say that mine does rattle until its gets warm and then not so much.
Other than assuring my misses that I was going to sell my Jap ute to finance this one and then deciding to keep them both and really ****ing her off I've not had too many probs come up.
In the past I have driven these things in the British army in many different countries and I can confirm that it is no doubt the best all-round 4x4 vehicle out there, enjoy :)
