hi flok,
the egr gives wierd noise so i unplugged the wiring socket on the valve. the truck drives very smoothly now. from memory the mil should be permanent ly on, but i didn't see it on. should i be worried that the mil doesn't work at all? is there any other way to trigger the mil?
thanks?

Not sure what a "mil" is but if you have just un plug the EGR it won't be long before you get a engine fault light on the dash.
Best option is to electronically close it with one of the remaps available.
BAS would be my choice.

As drover said the engine fault light will finally pop up...I did the same with the 2.4 it worked well until the light came up thought I had it fooled for a bit :D
Also not sure what this "mil" is ???

MIL is the engine fault light on the dash as Lagerfan said. I thought about BAS some time ago, I heard that remap does not only turn off the EGR but also produce more power and torque. I think the drive train may not be able to cope with the extra power and torque. Furthermore, I'm not sure whether I can handle the extra power and torque properly as I've damaged the transfer case once by revving up the engine to more than 4000 rpm in 1st low gear. That left my puma stranded in Dubbo for more than 6 weeks.

Hi c.h.i.e.f,
how long did it take the engine fault light to come up after you unplugged the EGR? So far I've been running the puma for about 1 hour, the light is still off.

Just tell Pete what you want.
I have 3 maps on my programming device,
1/ stock map
2/ 2013 performance map
3/ stock with EGR closed and speed limiter removed
Cheers

It was awhile ago now and cannot remember if it was speed related or time related...it took awhile I drove around town and at different speeds then bang it finally appeared...go sit on 100km/h see if it pops up.

My 2.4 did need the egr replaced but that was before I tinkered around...
I bridged the clutch sensor on the 2.2 and that made a difference however it got annoying as it went from 1 extreme to another and the revs cut out to quick...they havnt designed the computer system in the 2.2 all that well as to have a reasonable gear change you must be fairly quick at changing gears which for a rover box we all know how "most" last
The low range map is something to laugh at really no wonder they break things
I'd hope with a remap it would change these things to make them more drivable

It's on today. I'm going to get a scangauge to monitor the engine real time.

Does it go off if you plug it back in again?

About the MIL light and the EGR Plug, if you disconnect the plug, after 3 engine start/stop cycle the MIL light turn On.
If you reconnect the EGR Plug, after another 3 engine start/stop cycle, the MIL light turn off.
