Hi Guy's
I'm new to the site, but not to L/R's. I've got a S11a SWB that I'm upgrading with a 110 front end 3.9 IZUSU and hopefully a five speed. What I'm after is any Information on the LT-85, in terms of faults, how reliable they are, ease of parts and anything else that you guys can muster up.
Everything an anything is appreciated style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

The lt-85 is not known for its longevity when behind the isuzu. If you can get an lt-95 fourspeed you will be much better off.

Question to Lewy110:
I own Stage One V8 with LT95.
Is this thuth, that this box is noisy, even when 100% healthy ?
Mine is, especially when I,II or III (layshaft working). Is this normal, acceptable, or should I expect problems soon ?

Welcome to AULRO Larns style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

As for the gearbodex, I have also heard that the LT95 is better behind the isuzu, with any luck somebody here should be able to give you a little more detail as to why.

Sounds like an interesting project though, keep un informed if you get the chance style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Thanks Guys
Thats the general feeling that I was having on the LT-85, is any of the other five speeds of any worth behind the Izusu?
Next Q then, what is the truth in that the transfer gears for the LT-95 are of a lower ratio than that of the LT-85's transfer case, thus causing them to have a almost identical cruise rpm.
Another Q, Is the LT-85/95 able to be bolted up to the series 11a transfercase? I'd love to be able to keep the free wheeling front end set
up.

My day job is a deisel mechanic, we run alot of rovers with the
LT-95 and non of them have any noise coming from the boxes, I'd dare say that yours is in need of a rebuild soon. :?

The lt-95 comes as a gearbox and transfer case in one unit.
So you are stuck with constant 4wd.

All the lt-95s I have driven have had a bit of noise, even brand new with the full taper rolling bearing kits in them

Good point Lewy, I spose that means I'll be getting rid of my FWH. Anyone interested? Brand new, just installed (before I got the brain storm of putting the Izusu in), never used though. I may also be getting rid of a full set of brand new drum brakes. If anyone is interested I'll go into further depth for you.

I've got a Stage1 with Isuzu and K4.LT95 and don't think y4t.he box is that noisey, however it might be a bit hard to hear over the rattle of the engine.

BTW, whilst talking ratios, the Stage 1 V8 LT95 runs a 1.336: ratio in Tcase whereas the Isuzu setup runs a 1.123:1 ratio.
Ratio for low is the same for both.
