Away again these last few days chasing feral animals around and another few thousand k's on the 130 and a lot of steep rocky hill climbs and 8-10hrs of low range work I noticed that the new defenders are not as offroad friendly as the older ones due to what I believe is a miss match in the low range throttle map as it seems to all weird and wonderful things with the revs and sometimes becomes dangerous in certain conditions...has anyone else noticed this ? Does a remap change the throttle maps ?

FWIW, an EGR that's on it's way out can cause the engine to surge and have difficulty in holding steady RPM under some conditions.

The revs can't be manitained as easy as the older mechanical injected diesels which this gives a terrible feel...the revs are hard to find a happy medium as it either wants to slightly surge or increase the revs itself...another weird thing is once the clutch is engaged the motor will sit there with increased revs for ages even though I have no pedals engaged...I suppose this is what we have to deal with when everything is fly by wire however landrover seem to have a very sluggish computer compared to other commonrails
