Idiot! Haven't heard the term " long grassers" since 1982, during my time in Darwin. Some things don't change, Bob :D

Love how they stress the point that it is uninsured. :o
To be honest, I don't think any insurance would cover that anyway. Pretty sure they would say negligence, and not pay.
Feel sorry for the owner thou. He is now without his rig. :(

The 40-year-old construction worker had tricked his motor up with expensive, high-performance parts so he could take his two adult sons on a driving trip around Australia.
"It had $60,000 worth of work done to it," the stunned owner said.
I can never understand why someone has to spend so much to Go Around Australia. Maybe now he can do it in a Disco 1?

I'd say it is insured, but no policy would cover it being driven where it's illegal to do so, like a beach without a permit.

If it was a Landrover, and he was a member of AULRO, he could have put up an SOS and had a dozen forumites there to pull his rig out before the tide came in.
With more pictures taken to record the event.
Another downfall of owning a Nissan.
Still, have to feel sorry for the owner, ruined his Christmas break and his rig.

I agree with you lads.
Who on this earth would spend 60k on 4wd goodies and not the 1000 required for insurance.
Not that this this would have been covered, unless you claim the truck was stolen, get the insurance soerted and then not want to persecute the thief

Repairs? That my friends is a total write off. If the tide went over it. When I was running the marina at Royal Geelong Yacht Club, we had a nice td5 launch it's self down the boat ramp. It went down to the bull bar and was an insurance write off.

Unisured it wont become a write off. They could dry it out, fix what needs fixing then sell it. Some poor unsuspecting person might end up with a real lemon.
All depends on what its value was before though.

Actually not the vehicles fault, the idiot driver and to a lesser extent the owner for leaving his keys around.
