Hi,
just a bit south of there is Little Beach (-41.62605, 148.31257) which can be very pleasant, but may be packed this time of the year.

Deep creek campsite was great, BUT around new years eve VR commodore wagons loaded with beer, and kids with rat tails, towing unregistered trailers with more beer, eskys and dirt bikes turn up in droves.

Time to leave:(

Check out the lay of the country, flats, creek and shady trees.
Then go to the farm house and ask, the worst that can happen is they say no, but on the other hand you could end up with a top spot.

When you get off the boat at Devonport, call in to the nearest newsagent and get a copy of the local (Tasmanian, of should that be Tazmanian) fishing magazine called Tasmanian Fishing And Boating News. The current edition has six pages devoted to fishing AND camping in the North East of Tasmania. The emphasis is on fishing but it mentions all the camp sites available Swimcart Beach, Cosy Corner etc.with a bit of a description of what's at each one.
If you are not travelling immediately PM me with your address and I will be happy to post you a copy.
Enjoy your stay.
Cheers, Peter.

Jc, i'm currently at bicheno, left deep creek this morning, was there for three nights, was pretty tame for new years. I was in bed at 11.
Bay of fires was full and i thought not so great.
Stumpy bay camp ground up at mt william national park looked good yesterday, relatively quiet. Mt william nat park beaches are just as good, if not better than bay of fires, its just a bit windy at the moment

Yes indeed Eildon is great but I feared for my daughters safety due to mini bikes ripping around and ruining the tranquility

Yeah, don't seem to have that problem over here.
Have been keeping an eye out for aulro members on our travels, have spotted towe0609 ( I think that's his name) distinctive red/orange and white 130 with the red dot a/c on the roof, he was in launceston. A few other knitted out defenders and a well knitted out white rrc up at St Helen's.
For those who care we are traveling in a dark blue VW amarok knitted out by arb and towing a grey cub daintree le camper trailer, slowly heading south on the east coast, will hit brunt island next week, then will be checking out Hobart that weekend for the markets and Mona etc....
Sorry for the hijack:)

Tasmanian Bushland Garden: A Surprise Near Buckland (http://www.think-tasmania.com/tasmanian-bushland-garden/)

After you come down from the east coast and pass through Buckland, after 4.25 Kilometres, keep a eye open on the left hand side of the Tasman Highway for the Bushland Gardens.

The Bushland Gardens is a pleasant spot to pull into and take a break. This area has been set up by volunteers to showcase many of the local flora types of this part of Tasmania.

Check out the front gate that Graham, of the Tumbling Tucker Truck Fame, built in his spare time.

The waterfall only runs when there are visitors, so tell the kids before you get there that they are visitors and the secret garden animals will be watching them. They will make the waterfall only if they are good visitors. :D
