Hi guys. I have to change the fuel filter on my 2008 puma. Any ideas on the best/cheapest place to buy the filters.
Regards

I use Stanadyne diesel fuel filter element 36995.
It is $49.50 incl GST but plus postage from B & M Fuel Injection (Sydney?). Their email is bmfuel@bigpond.net.au
In dealing with them just before Xmas they advised me they are closed 24th December to 20th January.
When changing the filter remember you must fill the new filter with diesel before fitting. If you don't, the car will start and run but it will run out of fuel within a couple of minutes. You will then have all the drama of priming the system. And that is a drama you don't need.
I've been told by our local fuel injection manager that Puma diesel filters should be changed every 10,000km if getting fuel from reliable outlets.
Further, he advised to soak the whole new filter canister in diesel overnight before fitting it.

Also, you may be interested to know that Stanadyne make a (see through) water trap bowl and warning sensor that will fit straight onto the standard filter - you just need to mount the assembly a little higher (to clear the trailing arm).

Speaking of filters, I believe it is a good idea to install a pre-filter/water separator?
Personally I would want to fit a filter element that is available from REPCO, Super cheap, or any agricultural dealer, as having a filter element that is only available from a specialist would be a risk if I needed to find a filter element on a road trip.
Would this filter be OK for a Puma as a pre-filter?, Ryco Fuel Filter Universal - R2132UA - Supercheap Auto Australia (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Ryco-Fuel-Filter-Universal-R2132UA.aspx?pid=127751#Cross)
