following my thread on the oil filter adaptor for a 2a 2.25 engine, I now have a need to know more about the oil pump drive gear and its retention, and the distributor type and length of the drive shaft.
I think my distributor is the wrong length, or I do not understand how the drive gear is secured.
I believe the drive gear is held in place by the securing screw under the oil filter adaptor fitting into a hole matching the pin on the end of the screw.

my problem is that my distributor will not reach the drive dog in the drive gear with the gear held in place by the locating screw.

does anyone have a 2a engine in bits or a distributor out of one we can compare to mine?

well after trawling here and the world wide web, I think that I am missing the distributor drive coupling part no 549611.

if someone knows about this jigger, I'd appreciate any info you may have.

I assume my friends that played with this thing before I got it, lost it.

but I may have lost it also as I think it may be possible for this jigger to fall into the camshaft drive gear area, so some more sleuthing is needed.

off to clean out the residual oil in the cam gear well and see if the missing link is there...

well, its definitely missing,

anyone got one?

ok, I think I have got it licked.

went to HoHars today and Harry removed the missing link from one of his spare engines,
thanks Harry and Caroline for the part and bbq lunch.

I will get back into this in the morning and put it back together.
