Evening LRH,

I have been running XP Pro for 15 months now without too many issues apart from the colour scheme now changed from pea green boat to windows classic.

I wonder about the popularity having an impact as we are now at about 1200 but only 2 or 3 are logged on.

Incisor must be ripping his hair out 8O

still running win98se , having just a slowdown prob, which is good in one way as traffic is on a slowdown so since i havent been around much of late makes catching up just that little bit easier! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Hi Guys,

The slowdown is not your operating systems at your end or the number of members on the forum. ( Unless the server has some big Database issues). Looks to me like there is a network delay at the server end. I am running Cable internet and a fast PC and I have seen this site running REALLY slow for a week or so now.

I agree Incisor must be ripping his hair out :!: but there are a heap of reasons this could be happening - some in his control - some outside. The net is a pretty feral place at the moment -

Incisor - I will PM you a copy of a PingPath that I just did seems to point to network slowdown around anthony.a.instant.au
you might already know this but thought it couldn't hurt to make sure ( didn't want to post a full ping path to my machine in public!) 8O

Anyway guys - don't waste time working out why your machines are slow..... cause it's not you!! And as Ferno pointed out you can use the waiting time to catch up on your reading! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

like i have been saying...

the problem is partially "packet level fragmentation caused by a faulty router." it only affects certain people because of the way they are configured.

xp seems to be affected worse that most others, but i use xp pro without problems and so do many others it seems.

the rest is related to the spam storms that have been hitting the system and many others.

i cannot fix it as the faulty router belongs to an uplink and he is in the USA.

i dont have the money to place it elsewhere as yet so i have to wait it out.

i will be placing it in the pipe-qld telehousing facility when i do get the cash and the hardware, so it will be "very available" ......

Thanks Incisor,

I know working as a network manager myself you must be pretty tired of this subject!

As I said guys... on the net somethings are inside our fearless leaders control.... others are not!....

.... this one appears to need to CA$H to help solve it...

.. any one win lotto recently??
