07 D3 keeps coming up with transmission fault and going into limp home mode and lowering down to access height. turn off and remove key for a few minutes then start up and ok, start to drive up a hill and same again. not fun on the new England HWY with a van on behind. Any ideas would appreciated
thanks

My '07 V6 D3 did this (and displayed other catastrophic "faults" ie engine failure) in its fourth year. After weeks of trial and error it turned out to be a faulty wiring loom in the engine bay. Said loom had to be imported from the UK.

As a temporary fix for the suspension lowering, get the vehicle up to normal height then remove the main (20A) suspension system fuse from the engine bay fuse box. Then to prevent incessant warning messages, remove the 5A suspension system fuse from the interior fuse panel that's located behind the passenger glove compartment.
For the gearbox fault, try using sport mode for the hills.
Check the wiring harness behind the front left wheel in case its come away from its retaining clip and has been rubbed by the tyre. If insulation has rubbed through, the wheel speed sensor may have intermitant faults that will trigger your faults.

My D3 started doing that last year.
It turned out to be a faulty high pressure fuel pump - when you put your foot down up a hill, it cannot keep the flow rate and pressure high enough.

Need to get faults checked, but could be as simple as fuel filter blocked if only happening when extra fuel needed.
Also need to check brake light globes and brake light switch as these cause all sorts of problems.
Good Luck

Hi,
I had the same issue in our 2007 D3. The dealer had no Idea - "we have cleared the faults see how it goes". Next time they changed the fuel filter, still no good. I did heaps of reading on this site and disco3.co.uk . I asked the dealer to change the HP fuel pump. This fixed the problem. Over the next two years the fault has only returned twice, both times towing up a long hill.
The extended warranty covered the cost of the pump.
Good luck

Andrew
