Hi all,
Took the truck in for rego, (late as I was out of the country) and the mechanic found a few things :o, and there are a couple where Im lost?
The front left wheel is moving like the bearing needs tightning, but I just replaced the front outer bearing and I tightened the nut up tighter then I shoudl have and it still moves?
Any ideas why the wheel is got some movement when jacked?
Also the rear wiper wasnt working, I pulled the door trim off and ran the multimeter over it and I think that the brown wire running to the motor is grounding somewhere?
Does this sound right? any ideas where its likely to be grounding?
And the final issue is that the left rear electric window doesnt work from the centre consol? I havnt had time to pull it apart yet but I assume that the fault is in the console near the switch?
Thanks for any advice! :)

With the rear wiper, you have tried it with the driver's door closed, haven't you?

With the wheel movement is it left to right or top to bottom movement ? as i think they are called king pin bearings which control the camber . ( some one please correct me if i am wrong ) which is the top to bottom movement it is a tapered bearing if i remember rightly i had one go on my disco a few year back.

See if wobble is there when standing on the brakes. If it is, refer to workshop manual for setting swivel preload.

As far as the window is concerned, to start with pull out the bank of switches and swap some plugs to verify if it is the switch, hopefully it is.
If not it could be the ecu, window motor itself or the regulator is jammed by one of the nylon runners disintegrating.
If you do a search on here there are threads about dry solder joints on the ecu and sorting the regulators.

Ive cut the plugs at the rear looking for a wiring problem and pulled the dash apart, lets hope that it just works when I go out there tomorrow

Thanks,
The window goes down using the switch on the door just not the switch on the console. does this narrow down my search at all?

ok so the windscreen wiper now works !
Does anybody know if there is a way to tighten the swivel bearings without actually rebuilding the hub?
Thanks,
Oversite!

Now works, or it worked anyway, just the design feature of it not working with the driver's door open wasn't known?

the gist of it:
jack up, wheel off, support the swivel housing with a stand.
two bolts off the swivel pin, pull it out.
Put the swivel pin back in after removing a shim and torque the bolts.
Check preload/wobble.
Swivel pin housing overhaul part 8 - setting the shims on the top pin - YouTube
You may need to remove a few shims, or you may be unlucky and run out of shims to remove. In which case replace the bearing(s).
