About time someone used a Freelander for what it was built for.

Now all I have to do is get one for my own style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

Took our new Freelander out on Easter weekend.

On highway good, quiet, CD low, overtakes good, uses little fuel.

On Forest roads good (not to fast its still glossy new), handled well.

On two wheel vehicle track with copius bull dust, good. Not dust intrusion.
Grass taller than vehicle (goes for everyone) but ok could read track.
Up knoll, good and no traction controll used (not by choise). The car ran up easily.

Downhill in first (its auto and selectronic) with downhilll decent engaged, no problems. Would rather go down under gears though. Nit picking i suppose.

All in all a good vehicle, have not really pushed same, perhaps when the shine wears off.

Yes i think it is a real L/Rover. Had you asked this of me a year ago, I would not have thought so. Ignorance is no excuse i suppose.

I think it will handle the coast road, the Creb road and the cape. I also believe it would drive into Maytown as well, without any hassles. Now the wife may have something to say about going in the Freelander as opposed to the Defeder.

I am not going to modify this car. I can carry a Turfa and all else as required. Wading looks to be no problem, haven't done any as yet. I go out with friends that drive older V8 Rangies and they go through deep water regularly without prep. So i am confident in the Freelander.
