Seriously considering buying an unleaded head from landrover enginering firm in england for my 2.25, aparently very good fuel economy , and incresed compression ratio for better performance.
They also sell brand new 2.25 as well.

Any body have any experience with unleded heads....???

Talk to your local engine reconditioner, all you need is K line guides, hard seat inserts and some good exhaust valves.

I had the head on my 2.25 done about 8 years ago. Initially I ran ULP and now also LPG. Cost should be <$200 done locally. I did find it hard to idle smoothly on ULP and had the dizzy retuned to give an advance curve better suited to ULP. Apparently the 2.25 has over 30degrees of vaccuum advance, which is too much for ULP. That's all a bit beyond me, but talk to your engine recon. and ignition specialists. You may be able to save money getting it done locally and then afford a dizzy rebuild or electronic ignition to value add to your improvements. There's a UK company that do a performance cam for the 2.25 for about 200 pounds. I might invest in one when the aussie dollar buys one pound.

Hi
Beware of increased comp ratio with ULP,it will cause pinging.
Cheers

I did the same looked at unleaded, but decided to stick with the LRP, I've had the head re-done and put a new Dizzy in the S11A, and she just run's a dream, mind you I have run unleaded and found that the old girl run's hot, Pings alot as LandyAndy states, it's a personal thing, I find that my S11A get's better fuel economy and run's better on LRP, 8) . Mind you this was after the head was redone.
Check locally I was quoted $250.00 to have the head re-done for unleaded, $195.00 for just a rebuild, and I chose the later and I am happy!!! 8)
