Anybody actually use the ones under the carpet??

I put some smaller sized "eye" bolts through them a few years ago to run a couple of ratchets straps over fridges/food boxes.

Of couse if I take these 4 little Eiffel Towers out now, I'm left with 4 holes in the floor,, where did I put those little black plastic caps?, (4 years ago!)

This is from an american site but you can get flush mounted tie down points that could be fitted into the back and then left there, no holes when you sell it then.

I like this one because it will push down flat and look just like a small steel plate when not in use.

In the disco there is a heavy duty plastic strip at the termination of the carpet at the rear door. I drilled a series of holes at about 150mm centres. The hooks of my EPDM stretch straps can be manouvered through these and then stretched across the contents and attached to the Cargo Barrier. Works a treat!

Get your brain cells ticking over on this....

Anyone have any tips for securing loads in a trayback ute ?

To cover load I have a 'generic' tarp which I have tied to the side rails but it flops around like a dick in a hat and proved entirely unsatisfactorey last trip, often flying up and blocking my rear view. The only upside is that I somehow managed to keep all my gear dry.

Also how to secure tooldboxes into the tray - any way to do ith short of bolting it on through the floor of the toolbox and the tray ?

What about spare wheels/tyres ? I'd like to know a good mounting system that will (eventually) cater for 2 spare wheels - naturally needs to be theft proof and preferably not block the rear view to any great extent.

Also does anyone know where I can get a good replacement 'thingy' that secures the spare wheel to the bonnet ? You knopw the one - it's a circular thingy with a u-shaped bracket on it, pulls the wheel down against the bonnet mounted 'studs'. My current one is all rusty and I want a decent one that I can get powdercoated or something.

Hi Vlad
For your wheel holdy downy bit.Howabout cleaning it up with a wirewheel and anglegrinder then having it powdercoated or galvinised?
For tie downs look at my previous post RE toolbox handles,4 mates were so impressed with mine they "borrowed" the idea.
Cheers

hey guys
I used marine tie downs in mine to secure my fridge worked a treat. haven't fitted nay more yet as i bought four to test them.
I use to use those long bolts with the ring at the end but they had too much play and widened the hole. My new ones are a 3x2 cm steel plate with a loop welded onto it. theyu spread the load well. I havwe used lone stainless screws into my wooded sotage system but will be using bolts and locknuts when i do the rest. took about five minutes to install. if using in the back of the ute or into metal i would get a strip of rubber and put that between the plate and the base.

cheers
