Tyre sizes for 16"factory alloys????

Looking to get a set of BF Goodrich a/t's, just wondering what size above factory I can go with out having to modify gaurds etc, that'll fit these rims?

current tyres are the factory width 235/70r16 105h (need to replace all 4)

Short answer would be 245/70R16. Anything taller/wider will involve some level of wheel arch modification on a D1 with factory wheels.

However just trimming the return lip on the rear guard (ie. invisible mod) does open up some excellent alternatives (like 245/75R16) :angel:

I've just fitted a large 2" lift and 245/75/16 a/t's and noticed today that my drivers fr tyre actually rubs on the bracket holding the brake line! Easy fixed I'm sure but do have concerns about why this is happening.

Yep, same rims/same offset. Obviously the tyres are wider but climbing under to investigate shows no way it can rub (bar the shined edge on the little bracket and score allround the tyre) I noticed some time ago a vibration on full lock in carparks and now fear I'll be doing ball joints and bearings soon.

With 245/75's you do need to adjust the steering stops.

Oh yeah, of course I knew that! (the what?) I'll go read the workshop manual and see what it can show me. I'll be really glad if that means I don't have to rebuild the front diff.

The bolt in the middle of the pic hits where the circle is. How far that bolt sticks out determines where your steering stops to the far left and right. (1 bolt on each side). IIRC the factory spec is 20mm clearance between the tyre and radius arm. If you're checking the left tyre, you adjust the right steering stop and vice versa.
