Dear all
I think i'm about to buy a 1971 widelight s2a swb truck cab ute, a diesel, original and mostly unmolested but with some bulkhead rust. I can also get hold of a 1973 S3 swb for parts (no engine and rusty chassis) & am wondering if the bulkheads are the same? I'm pretty excited about the prospect of my new project!

Bulkheads are similar, but not the same. The 2a has the parcel tray and instrument panel 'boxes, which the S3 does not, and the instruments moving from central to in front of the driver means a lot of the holes are in the wrong place. Also, the windscreen hinges are quite different, but wouold be fairly simple to swap over.
But the bulkheads are, apart from this, basically the same, so modifying the S3 one using parts from the rusty one is possible, although it would be a significant amount of work.
Note that the bulkheads are different between the four, six and V8 engines, so make sure you get the right one.

P.S. I agree with Landy Smurf - try and swap the S3 one for the right one, or sell it and buy the proper one. Problem with this of course is they do not come up all that often and are rather large and expensive to ship, so you would like one local.

You would be better off trying to swap the s3 bulkhead for a s2a. I would not try and modify a s3
