I'm going to buy a bullbar, probably Opposite Lock version.
How difficult is it to fit one yourself.
I have a D3 S model so no 'stuff' on the existing bumper, (fog lights, washers, etc)
Would anyone have a copy of the OL fitting instructions. (I presume the bar comes with some)?

The OL instructions are pathetic. Use the ARB ones they are much more comprehensive. Use google to find them.

If you're mildly mechanically minded you'll be fine.
Unless you're strong enough to support the whole assembly a friend or 2 (or 1 and a trolley jack) will come in handy.

You're in luck. I made a few notes when I fitted mine. Same bar, but on a D4. Hope this helps. Just write these notes into your instructions.
The first point to note , is that the fitting time with the instructions supplied, is a fantasy.

Instruction I is remove the grille. If you haven't done this before, depress the top clips, pull the upper grille towards you, up and out.
Instruction 3 remove headlights. Again, if you haven't done this before. Lift the locking sliders , a large screwdriver may help ( 2 ) The headlights can then be pulled outwards, and the wiring loom released.
Instruction 6 remove flares - Mudflaps if fitted , have to be removed first. The popout plugs inside the guard have to be removed, and there is one screw on the inside front , access from the grille area.
Instruction 8 remove bumper - Torx bolts, one on each side where flares used to be. 8mm screws to bottom to be removed
Instruction 10- Don't forget to remove the sensor from the reinforcement bar before detaching.
Instruction 13 - The oblong brackets ( supplied but nothing on what the hell they are for ) mounted on rh side to reattach sensor. Same bracket bent to shape on the lh side to brace water bottle. Cage nuts on strips, used for bracket to bar mounts.
Instruction 14 - more cage nuts mounted as sets of two. Then fit number plate mounting bracket to bull bar before fitting bar onto vehicle.
Instruction 15 - refit the grille & headlights ( locking tabs may have to be jiggled to line up ) here + all other fittings incl. buffer strips under h/lights & h/light washers onto bullbar.
Instruction 16 - Fit lowest bolts onto brackets first, then use these bolts to hinge the bar into position.
Instruction 17 - A soft mallet will come in handy about now. I used packing washers under trafficator mounts, to stop distortion when tightened. I also replaced the front self tappers in the trafficator lenses, with stainless steel. The supplied screws will rust, and stain the bar.
Feed mount bolts from outside, nuts on inside for ease if fitting. Don't tighten until the bar is levelled. Use a jack ( padded ) to level the bar if required. Now tighten all bolts.
Instruction 19 - No captive nuts supplied, have to be sourced, or riv nuts fitted. Rear of plates has no attachment provided to inner guard, make your own arragements. Sensor bracket may have to be bent for clearance.
Instruction 20 - The rear bolts supplied cannot be used. Use the OE bolts. A G-clamp may be required to pull the rear plate into position.
Instruction 21 - Fit earlier . Your protection plates stop access now. A 10mm socket on a long extension can be used to tighten
Cutting your flares - Careful here. Trim flares by cutting approx 20mm below the bullbar top edge. This will allow you to slide the front of the flare inside the bullbar,( it is tight, but it will fit ) and then mark a more accurate line for the final cut. 2 pieces of rubber u channel ( Clark Rubber ) are required for the flare to bullbar edge.

I cannot recall why I made particular notes. It was several years ago. Hopefully they make sense when added in sequence to the supplied instructions.
