Me neither, I wore wrangler jeans, were the cool norm was Lee and Levis.I bet their mums had Whirlpools
I nearly got my head kicked in every day at school ( we had free dress in High School ( That's College for you youngsters) as my parents could afford the Lees /Levis and Miller shirts. I had Batas :(not threads those car tyre shoes

I have one up on you. When my family moved down from Rockhampton, we shifted in with mums mother & mums sister & 4 boys at Stafford Heights, Brisbane. Mum , my sister, brother, me, Dad, until he got the ****s, & 6 others. Went to Stafford Heights State School. First day there, mum dressed me up , clean school uniform, shoes, AND socks. Walked thru the gate, first day , local boys got up me for wearing shoes, AND socks, 3 of my cousins came across , the fight started. Now, my mum said to me I was not to fight at my new school, as opposed to my old one Central Boys School , Rockhampton [ gone now] End result, all boys involved in the fight in the headmasters office, 6 cuts each for the fighters, & 6 for me. Why for me? Headmaster said " this is for not sticking up for your cousins". Copped it sweet, but no one stood over me from that day. Bob
