Having cooked an engine in the Bermuda Triangle of the Hume Highway: Gundagai (a dog on a tucker box). I am interested in this topic.

So can we post something for general consumption on this important issue.

I am aware of two low level coolant alarms and will dig up some links.

Hi
There should be quite a lot available in the way of coolant monitors/oil level/pressure etc as a lot of this sort of equipment is used extensively in earthmoving equipment. The canter truck at work even has a button to press to check the oil level(standard mitsa****y item)
Try "engine protection equipment" on google or something

Hi
I have used coolant monitors in diesel motors on buses and they are worth their weight in gold, as the temp sender units need water in the system before they will read (no water no reading ) and to cook a bus diesel ain't cheap, they are best hooked up to both a light and buzzer

I think you're looking for something called a Murpy Switch. They are a bit clumbersome but they work well.

Series 3 Jag Xj6s have a low level sensor in the rad, it is small and they just push into a grommet. It's connected to a light. You can buy both sensor and special groment over the counter. Graham at South side cat components in Brisbane normally keaps them. Copy hte circuit in the jag and your away.
