You know the sinking feeling you get when you hop in your vehicle to head for an important engagement, turn the key and no go:twisted:

Happened to me this morning and I was about to get all bent out of shape when I realised all I had to do was reach down past my right knee and flick the switch on my Traxide system and voila one running car:D

Wonderful system really is.

Now what is the current consensus on which battery to buy?

My Traxide system doesn't allow me to switch over but I did have to jump start the D4 in Oct from the 2nd battery after the crank died.

I went with a Century for $194, 2 year warranty.

I have just fitted the Traxide kit to my D4 with the Optima D34 yellow top. Its has a capacity of 55 Ah and CCA of 750 Amps. Again my system is not switchable.

Cheers

I have purchased a VARTA G14. Its a Stop/Start system battery and I think may be similar to the original equipment battery. Its $410.

I just hope the D4 doesn't decide to stop/start on me :)

Where did you buy the G14?

Battery world is $495 for the G14.

Sorry for the slow reply.. I missed your question. I purchased here:

Varta Car Batteries - Pro Batteries (http://www.probatteries.com.au/varta-car-batteries.html)

It arrived at my doorstep 2 days later after ordering it. Its now in the car and so far so good. It took a few runs to fully charge the new battery.

No stop / starts so far....

That actually looks like it would work very well with the Traxide system. Was it a straight swap and fitted without any hassles?

Hi Andrew,

I was out of time so had Graeme Cooper fit it while they were doing a transmission fluid change. No hassles as its exactly the same size and same battery posts. So yes straight swap.

The battery that was in the car from new was also a Varta battery. I suspect that the replacement Land Rover batteries are the same Varta G14 battery but with Land Rover stickers and an additional $200 on the price tag.
