Dash lights

Ok, so I went for a drive the other night in Molly (96, 130 Crewcab) and realised the dash lights weren't working. Got a text that night saying my right rear tail light was out as well. This all seemed to go together and I found the blown fuse, and replaced it. Well dang, bugger, poop, as soon as I turned the lights on, it blew again, so I've got to chase the wires, but any ideas on where to start? If anyone else has had the problem where did you find the solution?
I have a knack of picking the wrong end of the wire to chase....

ive had grief in the trailer plug where it had been grafted into tail lights, check both ends to the socket

I wouldn't have thought the tail lights and dash lights would be related, they are different circuits aren't they? I have played the tail light shorting game with mine, a 95 model of the same device:) it was lots of different problems, corroded plugs down back, shoddy wiring to the trailer plug, and I think some worn through inside the chassis.
I ended up making an entirely new loom and grafting it onto the firewall multiplug. Added a few extras like reverse camera and lights. Took some doing but allowed me to eliminate any future problem and to protect it properly

Front right Parker is on this fuse as well ,I had the same problem a couple of months ago and was the wiring near the rear lights,after spending two weekends chasing the problem a auto elec sorted it in 20mins

Didn't think about the front...damn, more bloody wires to chase. I might spend a couple of hours playing about, and then look up an auto elec during the week if all else fails.

Have you put a tahco in? I had the same problem, the light for the tahco would short out on the steering brace, check for little burn marks behind the dash. Good luck.

IIRC there is a common rub through point where the loom exits the chassis and heads towards the rear tail light...

I've had a short from the behind dash wiring rubbing against a vertical steel bar behind the instrument panel that supports the steering column. I wrapped it with electrical tape to reduce the likelihood of it damaging other wires.

The search got delayed on the weekend. Decided to go fishing instead, but thanks for all the ideas. I'll get to looking and see what I can find.
