I was just surfing the ashcroft site and found some transfer case gears 1.667 now i know when i fitted 35's my speedo was out 30 % lets say ( showing 70 when doing 100) now i changed the transfer case to a defender one so 1.41 now it was showing 85 while doing 100.
My question is would the 1.667 transfer case gears correct the speedo back to nearly right. i tried to work it out with a ratio calculator but i just confused myself. At a price of $420 it is a lot cheaper then crown wheels and pinions and might even correct the speedo or am i wrong ?

You may also need to factor in something to correct low range also.

Isn't the speedo drive gear in an LT230 interchangeable with a range of ratios available, which would be far cheaper than changing your high range gears?
I think the speedo drive is on the output shaft, which would mean changing transfer case ratios wouldn't change the speedo at all.

Most that go to 35s change diff ratio not transfer ratio, as due to what Slunnie said, it fixes both high and low range ratios in one fell swoop, albeit much pricier.

Hi I think Slunnie is right but if its just a speedo correction you want look at Speedo Correction Kit - Ashcroft Transmissions (http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/speedo-correction-kit-c102.html) Regards Ian Ashcroft
