View Full Version : RRS - Remove Outer Drivers Side Vent

I have broken the control lever (moves the vanes up and down and side to side) on the drivers side air vent on my RRS - the one closest one to the door and need to take it out for repair or replacement.
Does anyone know how to pull these out without pulling the dash apart.
Thanks
Garry

Bump - I guess no one has had to pull the vent out?

Looks like you are a first Garry to break one :(
Have you searched RRSPORT.CO.UK?

Thanks Rich - I no longer search forums as the functions really do not work.
I will post the question on the RRS UK forum though.
I had a cup holder mounted on it which worked well - then I spilt some latte hitting a bump that went into the mechanism and I didn't clean it at the time - it jammed the mechanism and broke when I tried to move it.

Hi Garry
We had the passenger side one go in our 09 RRS not long after we bought it. The dealer tried to repair/reassemble it and it was fine until you tried to adjust it. They ended up replacing it.
I know this is not helpful with regards to how to remove it but just letting you know you might need to be prepared to replace it anyway.

Thanks Matthew - yes you may be quite right - I was able to repair one in a D1 I had and who knows I might get lucky with the RRS. The louvres inside all work ok it is just the activating lever that has come apart for the side to side motion.

Just search in Google/ Bing and they will often take to the right place inside the forums.
I agree that the search functions on most forums doesn't work well.

Thanks - was pointed out to me on the RRS UK forum. Doesn't show the right hand side that has the headight switch in the lower panel and is of a different shape. I will assume it is the same process as the passenger side and hope I don't break anything.
Cheers

I have seen replacement vents and trim on UK ebay. I think instructions were included. Some of trim was in different colors to the standard silver which we find reflects badly at times in outside rear view mirror. Maybe have a look there?
