Well thanks to LR Mick and a few saved dollars I have added some new parts onto the Disco.
First up is the new bonnet scoop from a gu nissan.
http://www.aulro.com/albums/album10/bonnet_scoop.jpg
Please excuse the bird droppings, :?
And now for the new flares that I got from Mick
they arrived as raw unpainted units and I have them done in a black hammertone finish, so that marks and scratches can be paint brushed up and you will never see.
Also makes them look like the plastic runner under the doors, once they are clean at the same time,

And here is the over all new look

I like it, makes it even more differant from the rest now

Very Very Toight! howd ya do the fitting of the scoop and how much did they slug you for it. The flares give it a meatier look all round. definately means business now.

Mick
P.S. when do we see the 35" swampers 8O style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

To fit the scoop was easy, marked it out and used a nibbeler to cut the hole out.
All up to prepare paint and fit everything was just under $900.
One other quote I got for just the scoop was $350 to $400
So I am happy with what I paid.
And the 35's will have to wait, wont fit under these style of flares.
Would have to use RR flares and cut some metal out

Not dumb, I never used to know either.
It forces air down the back of the engine and through the tranny tunnel.
Keeps things cooler.
A cooler engine bay means better running in hotter area's and over longer distance's
Has been discused at length in the tech section too, lots of differant opinions on the subject some for some against.

8) ok i can handle that, beats me why mr landy makes it so hot inder the disco bonnet, but i gotta wonder what happens to the airflow through the radiator and i guess i better look at the tech site
8) thanks harry

The air through the radiator goes around and down the side of the engine, but at a redused rate,
My tranny tunnel and gear selector would always warm up really quick, even on short runs, but even just running about today to get the car home I noticed a differance.

The lift and tyres are the same as before the flares went on, new springs gave me 2 inches and the rubber is 245/70/16
Thaks again Mick.

8)hey bb your truk does look good, and i read the scoop posts, lotta stuff in it. but still interested in what effect the scoop has on air flow through the radiator and if any cooling is lost due to the nu scoop? when you take a drive can you look at that, as you will of course!

Wont have any effect on the radiator that I know of, the air flow over the bull bar into the radiator hasnt been changed.
Will only draw air that flows over the bonnet.
But maybe you mean that the radiator wont have to work so hard to cool things down with the extra air flow style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
If this is the case then, YES thats the general idea, shall keep you all posted.

I like it BB, particularly the wheel arches, but the scoop makes it look meaner too.

 hey,bb, there seems to be a lot of S P A C E underneath those wheel arches! methinks that maybe you should ditch those spacky factory mags and get a set of really BITCHIN offroad wheels, and wrap 'em in some really big mud-slingin rubber to fill out all thatS P A C E , then that would be real chick magnet  style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif 8)

Mate I have been wanting to do that for ages.
want to get these type of rims
http://www.aulro.com/albums/album68/RARAPICS5.sized.jpg
Nice and tuff and I wont have to worry about marking up the alloys like I do now.
Dont want to go too big on the rubber as My wheels fit nicly up under the guards at the moment and I dont want to loose to much of that
http://www.aulro.com/albums/album10/17aug08.jpg
But maybe a bit bigger

nice wheels and tyres , would look good under your disco with a slighly higher (5-6 inch!) lift and a bit of tubbing work under your guards 8O
unfortunately that offset wont work with your disco, pity it is such a shallow offset on the standard set-up style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
have you heard of a porta-power?
just apply a little bit of pressure here, here and here style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif 8O
bigbugga
17th May 2004, 08:54 PM
I can fit a bit of offset, but not as much as in the first photo.

17th May 2004, 09:19 PM
yeah yeah yeah, as stated before I dont want to lift it a lot, I like the set up I have now and it goes where I want it too.
If it cant climb something or roll over something I will find a way around it, so far I havnt had to do that
