Im trying to sort an easy way of fitting a new fuel pickup to my sub floor tank.
This would be EASY,and its the correct length(200mm) found by LOTS of googling.
They are Scepter part no 009098.It seems nobody online sells them in australia.Scepter Fuel Pick UP Assembly 009098 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Scepter-Fuel-PickUp-Assembly-009098-/141150963359)
Thought was use my old fuel tank sender, simply drill/tap to suit.
We got some brass fittings from the rural supplies today to make one but Im not 100% happy with something cobbled together.
Cant seem to find any suitable fuel pick ups on Ebay, open to ideas.
Cheers

why not just use an automotive one or make one up by braising an elbow onto some copper then sealing it in with a fuel safe expanding grommet?

Automotive ones are not marine standards, not interested in a half arsed job.Copper wont go too good with an aluminium tank in my book!!!!

Andy,
So you are planning on drilling out and tapping your current top plate to accept that Scepter deaw tube?
Is the current top plate of the pick up made from Al? Is it possible to bend a hockey stick shape out of some 10mm OD Al tube and then just weld it into your top plate? With a bevel on the bottom of the pick up you then just rely on the external filter to catch any tank goobers.
Draw tube will still be removable by taking off the top plate.
Fuel line will run straight onto the tube with a hose clamp... done.

That was my original plan, getting somebody in town to do aluminium welding is a problem, also, there is a chance the pickup is stainless.
