After someone to fit fan to D2

Hi,
Sorry if in wrong section. I am getting a viscous coupling with fan and Iam after someone to fit it for me. I understand that it is a 10 -20 minute job. I am willing to pay but 2 mechanics have quoted me a minimum rate which is over $150 from one. I am located in Garfield and if someone is free either Friday evening or Saturday to do this please let me know. Iam driving to Ballarat Friday afternoon to get the part.

Pity I am up here and you are down there, I would do it over a beer. It literally takes 2 minutes and an extra minute if the old one is a bit tight. Hope there is someone handy who can help.

Is this for a TD5?

It's not too hard a job. Use a 10mm spanner on one of the small nuts on the hub and a large grippy thing on the large brass fan nut and turn away. You need the 10mm spanner to hold the hub from spinning while trying to untwist the fan from the thread. Once it's started, the rest can be done by hand.

You can get a special 36mm fan removal tool (I believe it is a Ford part), but in an emergency you can get away with an adjustable grip tool (not too sure what it's called) as below. Will tend to massacre the brass nut on the fan, though, so be wary. Definitely a kludge job, but will work.

That's almost what I do;)
I use a 12 shifter after removing one bolt.
If you do pull the bolt Loctite it back in.
And no Loctite on the fan.

Garfield is the foothills of the High Country in Gippsland.
Nice area of our state.

put bloody loctite on the fan threads, just use the right one, silver anti sieze.

the fan is spun in the direction of undo by the shaft so the reaction of the air against the fan holds it in place.

If I dont like the person and I know I wont be doing it again it goes back on with something like 222 262 690 or 414... :)
