G'day all,

Any good tips on where to service my D3 south of perth, been using southern land rover but finding them very expensive.

Also want to put my cover plate back on around the mitch hitch, has anyone cut theirs to do this and got any tips?

Cheers,
Chris

You cut it in half then trim the minimum off the cut edges of each piece so the each piece will fit behind the Mitch Hitch and still be retained by the tabs and screw clips.

X3 Rovertech

Not always perfect but they know the cars and try hard. Kevin has a D3 and has driven it to remote areas of Australia. Been servicing my D4 for a couple of years with no gripes from me.

Chris, I had my pads front and rear fitted by Jordan Rovertech and almost half the price of Southerns. Workshop is a bit rough, when compared to Southerns. I will have him do my in between services (every alternate 13k) as I do like dealing with Joe at Southerns....Joe gets things done for me and nothing is every a problem...including free bits. Jordan Rovertech is about 7kms further from you though. Don't know of any down your way.

We can give the plate a try...have see a pic of one fitted after the Mitch hitch was added, but maybe a bit of a pita each time you want to connect your trailer lights and Anderson plug.

The GOE seminar is worth every cent......and real easy to fit the rods.

Discovery Landrover in Wangara get my vote - great service at a reasonable price.

Another vote for Kevin at Rovertech - he's looked after my dad's D1 previously, but there's also Darren from Aztech4x4 in Rivervale - he's just done a gearbox service on my D3… very good!

Thanks gents, will look at getting the service done by Kevin, trying to get the long range tank in first, had it all planned with ARB but then they decided that they couldn't put a rear wheel carrier on without replacing the bumper bar at a cost of extra thousands, I have seen plenty of D3/D4s with rear wheel carrier through existing bumper bar, so waiting for some quotes back from OL. Have attached (couldn't figure out how to paste them straight into the text as I have seen done) a couple of photos of the cover plate around the mitch hitch, seems to work alright although I could have trimmed a little less on each side

Brett, welcome back, hope the rest of your trip went well. About to install a Traxide dual battery system when it arrives, should be fun noting my lack of automotive skills, have one of the weapons electrical techs from work on standby in case it goes badly...

Cheers,
Chris
