Woke up atop the cliffs on the Nullabor this morning at 5 no very early not sure what time zone I'm in, anyway drove 200ks to the border to get a coffee . I was sitting down next to a group of guys and my keen aviation programmed ears picked up on some keywords Lift, chopper, glide angle. Hmmmmm I thought what are they up to so took a walk outside and found this Defender . These guys are out here trying to break the world out and return record for a hang glider around 400 ks . They will ridge soar the Nullabor cliffs for 200 ks and back . They are waiting for a good strong Southerly . They have a jet ranger with a paramedic rescue guy on board incase it goes pear shaped and Jonno ends up in the drink. This is the same guy who rode the morning glory cloud in the Gulf of Carpentaria a couple of years back. Aussies at the top of the game ,good to see and their choice of vehicle is a Defender . I asked why ? ......Answer .....if you used anything else it would look amateurish and unprofessional . I agree !

Red bull must like Land Rovers or have a deal with them.
All of their support cars in the Dakar we Land Rovers
Any see Seb Loeb sitting in the back of the brand new range rover with Red bull stickers all over it in a line of 4 of them. All also with Dakar event stickers.
Also a lot of 130 and 110 with the red bull decor on them.
Also anyone been to a Hogs Breath Resturant and watched their videos will see a lot of red bull stuff and a lot of land rovers. Last one I saw was blokes driving a 110 ( similar set up and paint job as the one you saw ) towing a water skier across the top of a flood.

I love the whole car but I can't afford that.... I wonder where they got the roof rack and ladder arrangement.

Yes, but considering the padding they're probably only carrying the hang glider(s) up there.
Red Bull Company do pretty well considering they do not manufacture anything, all they do is licence the stuff to other companies arpund the world.

Just read in the Kalgoorlie paper that they broke both world records...must have been because of the Defender!
