Hi all just wondering where or if any of you have infomation on the Rossignol Disco!!!!!!

Strange-Rover told me that there were only about 100 made like this and if so they must be rare Disco's

Any info will be most welcome

Actually I don't but Pedro (the swift) does.

I'm sure he'll be happy to extol it's features and virtues.

I only have a sketchy memory of the Rossignols.

Basically, they came with a free pair of Rossignol snow skis when you buy the Disco. They were basically the top of the range model, had fancy decals on the door panels and I believe were only available in the 3 door format. I think they all came with Alloy wheels.

But I don't believe that they had any mechanical changes, i.e. no driveline or gearbox changes.

They did come with alloy's as standard all the one's I have seen have the same alloy's but I have'nt seen these alloys on any other Disco???

If you look at strange-rovers pic pages you will see my baby ( without alloy's )

Mornin!!

Went to the Maryborough Show last night, tested a few bundies for quality control purposes only,,,,

Had no idea there were so few made if that figure is correct,,,

posted this before somewhere,,,

only seen two colours so far, a mica maroon and a very nice green, both one-off shades, roof runners, 5 alloys, headlight & bonnet protector, special radio/cassette, bullbar with lights, supposedly skis and all the gear,
rear cargo cover.

Have never seen a diesel one 8)

I had always thought they were a type of runout special to use up the last of the 3.5's style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif

anyone else have info?

This is taken directly, word for word from the Dec98 issue of LROI Magazine.:
"A limited edition of 100 Discovery Rossignol models was introduced in June 1995, named after the maker of ski equipment. These were three-door V8i types finished in Caprice metallic paint, with special side stripes, driving lamps and other details"

I am unsure as to the accuracy of these details as Agros Rossignol is a 93 model??? Maybe it could be a typo or something.

The 93 Rossignol was V8 only and available in a choice of Zermatt or Moritz micatallic paint. There were 200 to be built at that stage. I had a brochure, and it's now been posted to Adam.

I have no clue what colour Zematt & Moritz are. The only Rossignols I've seen from around '93, are all the green/blue mica. I wonder if they are standard Landrover colours that LR gave new names to just for the Rossignols?

Sorry for bringing a very old thread to life again, but thought I could add a few things to it. :)

The Rossignol Edition was released on two occasions, once in 1993, and again in 1995. I'll limit my info to the 1993 edition as that's the only one I honestly know anything about. Mum had one (which I learned to drive in) and a family friend had one as well. ;)

They were the run-out's of the 3dr model (pre facelift), and was released in the popular Moritz (maroon metallic red) with the beige interior, or the unique Zematt (blue/aqua'ish metallic) with the blue interior. They featured the 3.5lt V8, available in manual and auto, 5-spoke alloys (same as the Rangy Classic had), roof bars, spare tyre cover, deep floor-mats, tailgate cover thingy, centre-console bag, bonnet protector, headlight protectors, bullbar (the one which mounted in front of the bumper with the rounded ends, Hella driving lights, decals down the side rear quarter panels, electric windows and mirrors,

Back in the day they certainly were head-turners and stood out from other Disco's of their time (especially being a 3dr), they looked and sounded the part. I was very lucky to have been allowed to drive it on my L's, and let loose on the family farm...my mates were jealous! :D

They also came with a pair of Rossignol skis as well.

The Zermatt appears to be a local colour name - I believe it was called Caprice elsewehere.

I'm sure they were all manuals too (from memory) but I can check my stock book which goes back to 1993 to double check. I don't recall any coming through with a bullbar either. They did have driving lights but I can't remember how they were mounted.

The 2nd Rossignal came out in around 1998ish & was the equivalent of the ES spec. I'm sure Sneigy will know for sure :).

I have a '95 in caprice, the metallic green one in my avatar.
I was also under the impresion that they were made to run out the 3 door body shape. Mine's a post update and, as far as I know came with all the extras mentioned, with 3.9V8 and alloys. I have however, seen other caprice Discos getting around that are not Risignols.
One thing I learnt when I had to get a new regulator(?) for the back of the alternator, is that it is fully imported, apparantly normal discos aren't. The part in question that was normally ordered for the alternator that SHOULD have been in my car was different. FORTUNATELY I had a look at it, and could see the difference. The auto sparky looked harder and found mine was an import.

The pre-update ones were in Zamatt, and when the update model came out, that's when the Caprice colour was introduced for the Rossignol. At first glance you'd be forgiven for thinking they are the same colour, but the Zamatt has more blue in it whereas the Caprice has more green in it. :)

Didn't the Rossis have the early dash with the Rangie Binacle, but the update Discos larger headlights

The 1993 Rossignol had the lower 'tubular' style dash, and was a runout of the 3dr pre-update model (early style headlights, dash, grille, etc). The later 1995 Rossignol was the update model, and had the more 'bling' dash, headlights, grille, etc. Hope that made any sense! Hehe!

Welcome to the forum Baciboy. :). Not only do you have a similar username, but I also used to live in the Mirboo area. :)

Sorry I can't answer your question though.

Hi would anyone know where I can get rossignol decals from to replace worn out ones.I doubt there'd be any spare decals around now. They were a 'local' model so the decals aren't a 'genuine' Land Rover part.
Your best bet would be getting your originals copied.
