Toyota's Future

I see storm clouds are gathering at Toyota . Will they be the next to go ? and if It does what effect will It have on our long term manufacturing ?

Toyota is gone they need to make a saving of around $3000+ per car produced in aust with current wages and union preventing going more robotic and supply chain getting smaller this is unlikely to happen.
Toyota will close shop in 2018 but wont be announced till probably next year

I think domestic car manufacturing is now history. There was already not enough for competitive support industries before Holden's announcement, now it's well and truly on that slippery slide.

Everyone seems to think that the car industry has just now found out that they need to get out of Australia. In 2012 prior to Christmas they unloaded a record amount of caravans and vehicles at Melbourne Docks as they weren't selling as many vehicles overseas so we will just dump them on the Australian public and kill off the local market. This has been planned for some years as they have had previous goes at building a vehicle port only in Melb. but got knocked back previously but now I believe it has been given the green light and will commence construction in 2015 to be ready when ALL the manufacturers have gone and we will import everything. Govts. have known about it, have let it happen, (the dumping) and now say gee we have a level playing field. Yea right. They won't require many new employees either as they are working long shifts now to keep up so it won't help ease the unemployment when Toyota go as well.

Yup all union fault with wages costing 10-15% per car or $2-3,500. So if they work for NOTHING they'll still be to expensive. Cut their pay by 5-10% and you still need to find $2700. Again a free trade agreement that only works for imports from Thailand. The question should be asked why toymota HQ agreed to this eba two and a bit years ago?
They claim they are $300,000,000( three hundred million) better off making the hundred thousand Camrys elsewhere. Any evidence yeah or neigh?

Anybody heard of fordisim? Henry Ford theory that the people who make the car should be able to afford the car? So if we cut their pay by x% how do we cut their bills and costs by the same amount?
