Had a leaking transfer case to repair this week, just take a squiz at what is required to replace a simple output shaft seal (I took no photos etc so this post explains it well)....

Made difficult in this vehicle by the amount of mud and detritus baked onto everything, and don't believe it when the poster says that the circlip was easily removed using a couple of flat blade screwdrivers...we used 2 pairs of hands and 3 little jewellers screwdrivers.....:(.
Make no mistake it is no small task so don't fall over when you get a circa $800 to $900 quote to do this job.

Just looking underneath the D3 when changing either the oil or fuel filter is scary, sorry to say that im not surprised.
you obviously cant get circlip pliers in there to remove it.

it wasn't a particularly difficult job ean, just the frustration of going to this length to replace a seal that failed due to corrosive mud and dirt ingress, whereas on any lt95 or lt230 it is at best a 30 minute job:mad::mad::mad:
still, test driving it afterwards and all is forgiven, they are a great ride:D

Yep Justin I can relate to the last line, just done 10,000ks in ours and would jump back in it tomorrow and do it again.:D
Hopefully the owner doesn't rubbish the car because he / she has been to lazy to wash it underneath.
Cheers Ean
