Brilliant!

My last 4x4 was a Jimny (later vintage though) surprisingly capable rig.
Only had a 2 inch lift, 215/75R15 and keep up with mates big rigs on 32"+ tyres (luxes, patrols, isuzu MU etc). Drove them crazy, especially after they gave me so much grief for buying a 'girls car'.

Always enjoy being the underdog :D

Love the look on the passenger's face in the flying LJ.:o I'd pay $1 to read that magazine, bet they could teach 4wd action a thing or 2 about irresponsible 4wd abuse. Goes to show nothing's new though.

My dad knew the people in the flying lj. She broke her back and he had concussion from hitting the steering wheel with his head if I remember correctly.

Guess that makes it a whole lot less funny. Makes it ironic that one of tha articles advertised on the front cover is "How To 4WD" shouldn't there be a not between how and to?

Hello from Brisbane.

Brought back a few memories there.

I also had those mags from volume 1 years ago.

I seem to recall that the centre pages of the first few issues showed a bit of bodywork that most of the competition to that time did not. From memory the first issue had a guide to wandering the dunes if you had lost your clothes or something to that effect.

Bowed to the "women n' kids also read this stuff" complaints and eventually stuck to the metal work.

Cheers,

Aah! Cronulla Sand Dunes :) one of the few places to go to get an all over sun tan ;) a bit of a long walk for a young family though, reef beach was much easier, almost got ourselves run down by a group of drunks in a shorty cruiser

As I recall, the LandRover article was about a P76 conversion - by Ritters?

Which in turn lead to a visit from the factory, and the Stage One.

Your right the first two issues did, as I was 15 at the time my Mum removed the centre fold from vol one but I managed to keep number 2 , a very pale and not well endowed girl leaning on a haflinger, I wonder if that's what influenced me to get a hafy, years latter ;-)
The mags, are amazing to look back on the trends ..that have come and gone ...I've seen some single mags going for $14.00 each on eBay, makes me wonder what the full sets worth ?
