Pinarello Paris. 2007 vintage. Would love a Dogma when funds permit. I found riding in sydney was bad for my health. One of the reasons I moved back to Melbourne. Cyclist just don't seem welcome.
I used to ride with Sydney CC out of Centennial Park. The ride down to Waterfall is great, once you're past the airport. Used to really enjoy the rides up around Church point and the northern beaches (akuna bay).
Commuting in to the city used to amaze me. Amazing how bike unfriendly the city is. Things are improving though. Don't mean to take this on a downer.

I love riding my Scott F01L Premium. I do between 350 and 450 km's per week on it - 32+ kms each way commuting, a bit of road and Criterium racing, a regular cafe ride every Saturday and then the odd extra social ride thrown in.

That Scott bike is porn! Very nice.
Sydney is unfriendly have been commuting for around 3-4 years now.
Cyclists are the devil but yes things are slowly improving but not enough.

I only every used to ride Colnage steel frames when I was racing. Helped that I was just given them, plus groupsets. I never got used to alloy or carbon on the road. Saying that I'm now riding a Giant Talon 29er0.
I had a few Masters and then 2 Conics. Both conics ended up scrapped after accidents but sold the lugsets for the value of the new frames.

I'm rolling around on a Wilier Gran Turismo, 100Km's a week on the commute at the moment - a bit of mtbing at the weekends with or without my son and far too many other hobbies to get any more than that in on the road bike.
Jayborover, do you go up the Kwinana PSP? I was passed by someone in KTM kit this morning on what looked like your bike, I was noting to myself that the wind would make it interesting on those wheels with the easterly.

Unfortunately no Colnago or fancy carbon framed bikes for me, I ride a cheap ALU Trek roadie and have a lovely Cannondale MTB hanging on the wall not getting much love.
I have commuted a few days a week to work for the best part of 15 yrs in Sydney, 20 km each way.
Use to be 4 days a week when I was doing lots of MTB riding now days I try and do two day a week and if time permits a ride on a Sat or Sunday, but with kids sport, 4wding, the odd surf and other things the weekends get pretty crowded.
However, living South of Sydney I can honestly say that the ride to the CBD is actually much better now than when I started. I manage to us bike paths and cycle ways most of the way, but it still amazes me how bad the attitude of drivers on Sydney roads in peak hour is (but do not want to start that debate).
Enjoy the Colnago !!

Heh, yep - that was me! That KTM cycling kit is pretty rare. Bought that well before KTM cycles were available in Australia. (The bike probably comes close to being as rare - not many people are stupid enough to spend that much on bike you still have to pedal:D).
They're certainly not my preferred wheels for those conditions but probably better than the deep dish, tubular Easton EC90TT wheels I race with. My best wheels are Mavic R-SYS SLR, but they're back in the shop again for the second blown spoke I've had in less than a year! Grrr.
That was a good bit of breeze this morning. Had to ride home in the afternoon after my wife got a bushfire alert text. Had to make sure the Landy's were safe:D.
Where do you ride from/to?

Only from Applecross to West Perth, sometimes not long enough a ride, but when the wind is up it's too far! Out on the mtb today with the temp going up, it forces me to go slower! I'll say hi if I see you again :D
Hope the bush fire passed you by without any damage....

That is awesome! I love where bike technology has gone since I rode - many moons ago. I got a 10 speed BSA when I was 12 and rode it everywhere for the next 15 years. My only bike now has a 1000cc motor in it, so I guess that doesn't count, but boy I sometimes wish I coud get back into it all again...:)

Ive taken up cycling in the last 5 months, i have an old Trek 1000sl road bike and recently got hold of a 2nd hand Merida ride93 road bike for a good price which has compact gearing, one day i'll get a carbon bike.
Road Bike - Road RIDE series - RIDE 93-27 - Merida Bikes Suisse (http://merida-bikes.com/fr_ch/bike/2011/57/Road+Bike/RIDE+93-27)
I did my biggest ride to date today 71ks from Doncaster East to Sassafras return (in the Dandenongs for non Melbourne people). ive become a bit of a strava (cycling app) addict as i find it helps me to see if im getting better and i can check bike paths for hills before i ride them.
Being over 110kg hills and headwinds are my enemy but im getting fitter.

it's not that one... but that's what it's like. Got it early 2011, did about 4500kms in the first 6 months of owning it. But i've gotten slack these days, I have to get it back out and start riding.

Lol......when I ride the most direct route I call it the 21k time trial. When I'm fit I do extra k's to nudgee beach or a couple laps of the gateway bridge

I have an older aluminium framed Colnago which I built up with Ultegra group set, Fulcrum Racing 3 wheel set and 3T bars, stem and post. It's more bike than i need!! I just need to get on it and ride! I would love a new carbon fibre Italian steed, but can't justify it.
Once you've had a Colnago, you can't go back!!!
Cheers,

My usual ride is based on an old steel frame I rescued from a council hard rubbish pile. It now has 9 speed Ultegra, Brooks saddle, hand built wheels, full mudguards. At 14.5 kg its very heavy but super comfy for my 50km daily commute.
Commuting by bike gives me all the training I need so I can use my Cervelo P2C in the odd triathlon, it's like a rocket compared to the old steely.

My bike is also a rescue. The only original part now is the frame. It weighs a ton and has 52x16 gearing. I ride to work every day, 36km round trip. If you are in Perth and are following a big dude on a blue frame who turns around to ask you to please not draft, then that was me.

Thats a monster gear you're pushing. Hopefully a flat route. I have 44 x 17 on my fixie. Perfect for the gentle hills and inclines of Melbourne.

I've got 2 road bikes both Giants:
2010 TCR 1 Ultegra gearing - I use this one in the wet weather;
2012 Giant TCR Di2 - Fine weather bike.
Both bikes have Brooks saddles as do all of my bikes. I also have a Surly Long Haul Trucker frame I intend to build up when I stop spending money on cars. :D
I'm currently doing around 300 - 350km a week. 200 - 250km commuting and a century on Saturdays. Generally on Saturdays I either head into Kings Park and do some laps or Roe Hwy to the Freeway and head south until I've had enough then I turn around and go home.

Can't comment on the Cervelo as I've never ridden one. Tried to test ride one when I bought my second Giant but the shop I went to wanted to put me on one of their own branded bikes. I went there specifically to look at the Cervello's. They've since closed down.
As for the Di2 thoroughly recommend it. They only adjustment mine has had in 2 years is when I changed the wheels and put an 11 speed hub with a spacer which required realigning the gears.

S3 is what the team ride in the tours like TdF etc. There is a new S5 coming out shortly too, prob a minor revision. Just note that the geometry on that bike will be aggressive with it being a racing bike rather than comfort.

Yeah it's fairly flat, I used to have a 48 chain ring but it was just too slow. There is one hill that I encounter on a river run with mates where I just don't have the gearing to get up it without getting off and walking :(

Bought the Cervelo S3 Di2 today.
Pick it up next weekend. Just have to wait now for the cast to be removed from my arm and all should be good. (bike stack).
