the previous owner relocated the rear mudflap to the cross bar on the chassis and has removed the original mounting points

can some take a pic of how the mudflaps attach.......

would I be able to purchase the brackets still from land rover?

Hi

If you are talking 110 Defender the brackets go from behind the rear wheel arch to a rivnut (nutsert) into the chassis. You will probably see a hole in the Aluminium just after the flare and either a rivnut, spinning bolt, or hole where the rivnut used to be in the chassis. I'd take a photo but its a bit windy here at the moment with horizontal rain. The 130's with tub have a little extension on the bracket as the tub is wider.

I am just about to fit a set of rear mudflaps with brackets they are genuine LR with part numbers LRO32965, and LRO32966 on the packets. Got them here Welcome to DLS - Derbyshire's Number 1 Independant Land Rover Centre (http://www.dls-uk.co.uk/l-h-rear-mudflap-and-bracket-defender-110-oe-26358.html)

I've got a set coming if you want to have a look before I try and fit them.

Right side of car, the chassis rivnut is on the top left of photo (towards the rear of vehicle). The one on the right had the bolt in the rivnut spinning in the chassis. I hacksawed off the head, then punched it in, and then put a new rivnut (M6) in with some locktite 401 (supaglue) on it. It held well

Thanks for the pics.......I wonder if my exhaust will be in the way as it's not original.

I got some for my Disco from Roverparts for $50. They should have them for the Defender. Probably work out cheaper than from UK.
